🦀Many people who come to the seaside want to step on the soft sand, pick up some shells, flip some crabs, and experience the fun of tide chasing. There are many beaches in Xiapu, and based on my years of experience, I have compiled a Xiapu tide chasing guide for everyone. If it's useful for you, be sure to bookmark it!

🕒1. Time:
Be sure to check the tide table for the best time to go tide chasing. The best time is 1-2 hours before low tide during big or giant tides. Please pay attention to safety and go back when the tide rises. Don't take it lightly.

🔧2. Tools:

  • 🙌Gloves (to protect hands from rocks and crab claws)
  • 👢Rubber shoes (for easy walking, don't wear flip flops)
  • 🔦Flashlight (for illumination)
  • 📌Bucket (for collecting crabs, shells, etc.)
  • 📌Shovel (for digging clams, sand)
  • 📌Long tongs (for grabbing crabs)
  • 📌Long hook (my personal favorite, can be used to hook things under rocks, or pry things up)
  • 💃Sunscreen and hat (the sun at the beach is very strong, so be sure to protect yourself from the sun, and also be prepared for some insect repellent, such as mosquito repellent)

🔥Recommended Xiapu tide chasing spots:

  • 👉1. Gulinxia Village (mud)
The mud on the beach is about calf-deep. There are many clams and snails on the shore, and the position of the mud snail is a little further into the sea.
  • 👉2. Songshan Weiken (oyster shell rocks and mud)
From the bus station at Songshan to the beach near Matsu, there are blue crabs, octopus, oysters, snails, stone crabs, etc.
  • 👉3. Gaoluo Beach (sand)
There are many sand crabs, small fish in the water puddle, and many fish for sea fishing on the left side facing the sea by the rocks.
  • 👉4. Jishi Beach (smooth stones)
There are many turban snails, shells, stone crabs, and small fish and shrimps in the water puddles.
  • 👉5. Dajing Beach (sand and rocks)
On the left side facing the sea by the rocks, there are shells, small crabs, small fish, clams, sea urchins, etc. It is mainly suitable for playing on the beach while tide chasing, and there may not be a big harvest.
  • 👉6. Luoxia Beach (sand and rocks)
Located on the beach next to the Lvxia Ferry Terminal, there are many stone crabs, and also octopus, snails, and sea urchins when the tide recedes.
  • 👉7. Xiao Hao Beach (sand, mud, oyster shells, and small stones)
The mud here is a bit slippery, so be careful. There are small crabs, small snails, and oysters.
